IBC totes in
Midland–Odessa.

Production chemical programs across the Permian consume totes continuously — corrosion inhibitor, scale inhibitor, biocide, methanol and paraffin solvent all arrive by the tote and leave as empties. Historically a large share of those empties were stacked, forgotten and eventually landfilled.

Flatbed trailer loaded with two rows of IBC totes secured with straps, hooked to a blue tractor unit

The short answer

The Permian is the most tote-intensive region in Texas and the one with the largest recovery opportunity. We run monthly consolidated loads and will send a dedicated flatbed for buy-backs of twenty units or more from a lease, yard or chemical facility.

20

totes per trailer floor

Forty if they're empty.

That is the single biggest waste stream we chase. A cage and pallet represent most of an IBC's embodied energy; recovering them and fitting a new bottle keeps hundreds of pounds of steel and plastic in service per unit.

For buyers out here, rebottled UN-marked units are the standard spec. We stock them and we will quote a load rate that makes the distance work.

Midland–Odessa questions

+Is it really worth hauling empties 320 miles?
On a full flatbed, yes — for us and for the environment. A 48-foot load carries about forty units; the diesel burned is trivially small against the manufacturing emissions avoided. On four units, it is not worth it, and we will say so.
+What do you do with totes that held aggressive chemistry?
Bottles that have absorbed product cannot go back into service. We separate them, granulate the HDPE, bale the steel cage, and the material re-enters manufacturing instead of a landfill cell.

+Can you deliver with no forklift on site?
Yes — we run a moffett-equipped truck with a piggyback forklift for exactly this. Note it on the form so dispatch sends the right equipment.
+Does a used tote keep its UN rating?
Only if it was reconditioned by a registered facility, passed the required testing, and is inside its retest window. A UN plate on a rusty cage from an unregistered yard means nothing.
+Do you buy used totes?
Yes — it's half the business. Anywhere in Texas, from a handful behind a brewery to several hundred on a chemical yard. Send photos and prior contents and we'll price them the same day.
+What are standard IBC tote dimensions?
48 inches long by 40 inches wide — one standard pallet position — with height varying by capacity: 46 in for 275 gallons, 53 in for 330, 56 in for 350.
+How do I tell if a used tote is sound?
Check five points: cage welds at the base corners, the bottle around the outlet, the valve seat, the lid gasket and the pallet feet. Those account for nearly every problem we see at intake. The 48-point inspection checklist covers the systematic version.
